About Ford digital service records

Ford is the UK's best-selling car brand with an enormous dealer network. Models like the Fiesta, Focus, Puma, and Kuga are serviced at hundreds of UK dealerships. Ford's digital service system provides comprehensive records.

For a full walkthrough, read our Ford service history guide.

How Ford records service data

Ford UK uses the Ford Motor Company dealer management system (Service Pricing & Operating System / FordPass / Asbury), with VIN-keyed service records held centrally and synchronised across the franchised dealer network. Every dealer visit is logged with date, mileage, the service interval triggered (annual / 12,500-mile), itemised line items (oil + filter, brake fluid, pollen filter, spark plugs, cambelt where applicable, AdBlue refills on diesels), the dealer code, and free-text remarks on additional work. UK Ford records are reliably digital from approximately 2005 onwards, with strong coverage from 2010 when dealer-network digitisation completed. The FordPass app shows service history on newer cars but is a thinner customer-facing view; recall work, warranty repairs, and pre-FordPass entries often only appear in the dealer-system lookup.

Useful Ford information

Ford service intervals

Ford recommends servicing every 12 months or 12,500 miles (whichever comes first). Oil service is annual, with an intermediate check at 6 months recommended for high-mileage vehicles.

Ford models we cover

Full UK Ford range is covered: Fiesta (Mk6/Mk7/Mk8), Focus (Mk2/Mk3/Mk4) hatch / estate / saloon, Focus ST / RS, Puma (the new SUV — not the Mk1 coupe), Kuga (Mk1/Mk2/Mk3 including PHEV), EcoSport, Mondeo (Mk4/Mk5), S-Max, Galaxy, Edge, Ka / Ka+, Tourneo Connect / Custom / Courier, Mustang, plus commercials: Ranger (T6/T7/Next-Gen), Transit (Mk6/Mk7/Mk8) full-size / Custom / Connect / Courier, plus older models that are still on the road (Capri, Escort, Sierra) where digital records exist. Coverage is strongest from 2005 onwards; earlier examples may have partial records.

Things to watch when buying a used Ford

Three Ford-specific things to know: First, the 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder petrol (2012 onwards, in Fiesta, Focus, Puma, Kuga, EcoSport, B-Max, C-Max, Mondeo and Tourneo) uses a wet timing belt that runs in oil — Ford updated the service requirement to mandate a belt change at 100,000-150,000 miles (varies by model year and dealer guidance). Verifying this entry in the record is critical; missed wet-belt service is the single biggest cause of catastrophic engine failure on EcoBoost cars. Second, the 1.5 / 2.0 TDCi diesel (in Focus, Kuga, Mondeo, Transit) has a DPF that needs verifiable regeneration history — missed long-runs and short-trip use can require a forced regen or replacement. Third, FordPass app history is sometimes incomplete for cars first registered before the app launched (2018) — the dealer-system lookup retrieves the full record back to first registration even when the app shows nothing.

Why check Ford service history before buying

Ford resale is highly volume-driven — Fiesta and Focus are the most-traded used cars in the UK — so documented FSH is a major price differentiator. Trade-in value typically differs by 5-10% between FSH and partial-history equivalents. The 1.0 EcoBoost wet-belt service is the single most important entry to verify before buying any 2012+ Fiesta, Focus, Puma or Kuga; without it, engine rebuild costs run to £3,000+. On Transit and Ranger commercials, dealer-stamped history is virtually mandatory for resale to the trade. PHEV Kuga buyers should look for the 2020-2022 battery recall work appearing in the record.

Ford's own dealer network can sometimes print service history at a branch if you bring ownership documents, but there's no public Ford portal that returns the full dealer record online. Read our free Ford guide for every route — and where the gaps are.

FAQ

Ford service history FAQs

How do I check Ford service history?

Enter the UK registration of the Ford into the form above. We query the official Ford dealer system and return every electronically logged service entry — date, mileage, work performed and dealership. £9.99 — your card is authorised but not charged unless we find records.

Coverage level for Ford

Ford is in our Full Service History tier. Complete service records from manufacturer dealership systems, including service dates, mileage, work performed, and service provider details. Suitable for consumer reports and remarketing.

Does Ford have digital service records?

Ford UK uses the Ford Motor Company dealer management system (Service Pricing & Operating System / FordPass / Asbury), with VIN-keyed service records held centrally and synchronised across the franchised dealer network.

What does a Ford service history report show?

For Ford we return full service history from the official dealer system: service date, mileage recorded at the visit, the work performed, and the dealership that carried it out. We also bundle the full DVSA MOT history into the same report at no extra cost.

Will independent garage services appear on my Ford report?

No. Independent garage services do not appear in Ford's manufacturer dealer system. Our report covers Ford franchised dealer records only. If a previous owner used an independent specialist, those visits will be missing here — that's the same gap a Ford dealer would see if you asked them directly.

Can I check Ford service history without owning the vehicle?

Yes. You only need the UK registration of the Ford you're checking. There's no ownership verification step — that's why used-car buyers use the service before paying for a vehicle, to confirm the seller's history claims against the official Ford dealer record.

Why is Ford service history important?

Ford resale is highly volume-driven — Fiesta and Focus are the most-traded used cars in the UK — so documented FSH is a major price differentiator.

Can I check Ford service history for free?

Ford's own dealer network can sometimes print service history for you if you visit a branch in person with ownership documents — that's the free route, but it requires a dealer trip and you usually need to be the current owner. There is no public Ford portal that returns the full dealer service record. Our £9.99 lookup runs the same dealer-system query instantly with just the UK registration. Card is authorised but not charged unless records are found.

Does Ford have full digital service records?

Yes. Ford maintains complete digital service records across all UK franchised dealerships through the Ford Motor Company dealer system. Service date, mileage, line items, and additional work are all logged.

Can I check Ford service history by registration?

Yes. Enter your Ford's registration number to retrieve the complete official service history including dates, mileage readings, line-item work (oil, filters, brake fluid, cambelt where applicable), and recall work performed at franchised dealers.

What Ford models are covered?

All Ford models serviced at UK franchised dealers are covered, including Fiesta, Focus, Puma, Kuga, EcoSport, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Edge, Mustang, and the commercial range: Ranger, Transit (all variants), Tourneo, and Courier.

What is the 1.0 EcoBoost wet-belt service?

Ford's 1.0 EcoBoost three-cylinder petrol engine uses a wet timing belt running in oil. Ford requires this belt to be changed at 100,000-150,000 miles (depending on model year). Verifying this service entry is essential — without it, premature belt failure can cause catastrophic engine damage costing £3,000+ to repair.

Does FordPass show all service records?

No. FordPass shows a customer-facing summary of recent services for cars supported by the app (typically 2018 onwards). Pre-FordPass records, recall work, and warranty repairs may not appear in the app even when they're in the dealer system. A dealer-system lookup is the authoritative record.

Does Ford service history pass to the new owner?

Yes. The service record is held against the VIN by Ford UK, not the customer. When ownership transfers, the new owner can access the same dealer history through any franchised Ford dealer or via a VIN-based lookup.

Why are some older Ford records missing?

Ford UK only achieved consistent digital record-sharing across the dealer network from around 2010. Earlier records (pre-2005 in particular) may be held only by the supplying dealer or in paper form. The central system retrieval is reliable from 2005 onwards, with strongest coverage from 2010.

Does service history matter for Ford resale?

Yes. Ford resale value is highly sensitive to documented Full Service History, especially for Fiesta and Focus. Trade-in typically differs by 5-10% between FSH and partial-history equivalents. For Transit and Ranger commercials, dealer history is essentially mandatory for trade resale.
